Google Business Profile: 100% worth it for small businesses

Google My Business has been recently renamed to Google Business Profile, but you might know it by 125 other names this Google tool has had over the years (Google Business Listing, Google my place, …).

If you are a small business and you don't have a Google Business Profile, we believe you are missing out and that it should be the first tool to add to your digital marketing arsenal in 2022. It is a good fit regardless if you sell products or offer services, regardless if you have an actual location that can be visited or not, and yes - even when you deliver your services online.

Is it worth the effort? Yes it is, 100%! Here are some of our thoughts:

  1. It literally puts you on the map - the chance of showing on the search engine results page (aka SERP) rises, even more so when users insert a location or “near me” and that happens to be a match with where your business “resides”.

  2. It is a credibility checkpoint - there is a verification process behind that ensures you are an actual business.

  3. It makes your business easier to find and contact - plus it makes a great first impression as it comes with an image and contact options.

  4. When content is optimized, it earns you (local) SEO points.

  5. Gives you “more real estate” on the Google Search Results page when users are looking specifically for your business.

  6. Allows and hosts client reviews in a very user friendly way - it is easy to share a link and ask for reviews plus it opens the door to spontaneous ones as well.

  7. It is free (still).

We could go on here but this is probably enough to get you thinking if you don't have a Google Business Profile for your business yet. If you need help setting it up - get in touch!
